We are delighted to announce that Ngarrindjeri artist Daniel Rankine, known professionally as Trials, has joined our Centre for Aboriginal Studies in Music (CASM) to mentor the next generation of Aboriginal artists 🖤💛❤️ An award-winning rapper, songwriter, producer and instrumentalist, Daniel has played a defining role in the rise of homegrown hip hop through projects including Funkoars and A.B. Original. His appointment at CASM comes just weeks after the release of his long-awaited debut solo album, ‘hendle’ 💿 Daniel will work directly with students in the studio to teach them the fundamentals of his success – making beats, writing songs, performing, mixing and mastering 🎤🎸 🔗 Find out more via the link in our bio

23 years ago today, Finding Nemo premiered in cinemas 🎥 🐟 🦈 The film follows Marlin as he searches for his missing son, Nemo. We were proud to celebrate 3,162 Children’s University graduates from 141 schools and membership hubs across South Australia in Bonython Hall this year, an incredible achievement and a true testament to the curiosity, commitment and hard work of every child who took part🎓🌟 Children’s University is an educational program that encourages children aged 5 to 18 to participate in voluntary learning and volunteering activities outside of school, offering a wide range of fun and engaging experiences that spark curiosity and build confidence. We also extend our sincere thanks to Professor Høj AC and the Honourable Catherine Branson AC SC for their support and championing of Children’s University. This year marked their final CU ceremonies, and we are deeply grateful for the encouragement and belief they have shown in our program and its impact on young learners. Recently, the University of Adelaide hosted a two-week simulated space mission, the only one of its kind in Australia 🚀🛰️ In partnership with international space research and development start-up ICEE.Space, the ADAMA Analogue Astronaut Mission ran from 9–22 October 2025, joining concurrent analogue missions taking place around the world. Four analogue astronauts lived and worked in a controlled environment at the University’s Exterres CRATER facility at Roseworthy campus, testing sustainable mission systems, next-generation spacesuits and habitats, and performing lunar mission simulations. Congratulations to our newest doctors 🎉🎓 On Tuesday 25 November 2025, 189 Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery students came together with their families in the historic Bonython Hall to celebrate a truly significant milestone 🎓💙 As they graduated from the University of Adelaide, these new doctors also pledged the Declaration of Geneva, affirming their commitment to ethical medical practice and a lifelong dedication to serving humanity 🩺🌍

Last week, the 2025 @thinclabofadelaide eChallenge Gala Dinner delivered an unforgettable evening of energy, inspiration and entrepreneurial ambition. With over 260 guests in attendance, the atmosphere was electric, a vibrant celebration of student creativity and innovation. Twelve finalist teams from ThincLab’s eChallenge program showcased the results of months of dedicated research, customer discovery, product launches and countless iterations. In polished, confident one-minute pitches, they presented ideas that tackled real-world challenges, from energy affordability and wildfire risk reduction to respiratory health, women’s wellbeing, education, sustainable land management (yes, with goats!), space-industry careers, mining innovation, and the future of digital marketplaces. Amidst fierce competition for nearly A$120,000 in prizes, what truly stood out was the courage, collaboration, and generosity demonstrated by every student on stage. At ThincLab and the University of Adelaide, it’s clear that innovation isn’t just encouraged — it’s accelerating. 🏆 2025 eChallenge Winners 1st Place & People’s Choice SwitchBoard: A new platform leveraging Consumer Data Right to help Australians secure optimal energy plans and avoid “loyalty tax” on their bills. 2nd Place Amazing Graze: A sustainable, evidence-based fuel-load reduction service using targeted goat grazing on high-risk land across South Australia. 3rd Place (joint): Quixly: An AI-powered learning tool that transforms study material into personalised quizzes, flashcards and guides for families and teachers. RadioAI: Transforming traditional mining radios into intelligent, data-driven safety tools — delivering instant answers and automatic hazard logging.
