That curiosity led him into a career across multiple industries, including mining, heavy equipment and even satellite technology. He enjoys the problem-solving nature of electronics. Miguel is focused, driven and giving back 💙🩺 At just 16, Miguel is building a strong future in healthcare through a Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing) (CHC33021) at TAFE NSW Glendale. Inspired by his mum and her work in healthcare, Miguel is passionate about making a difference in people’s lives. Lights, camera... action! Daniel's life-long love of film and TV 🎥 💡 Daniel has always had a passion for film, sparked early through making short movies with his brothers. After completing his HSC, he pursued university studies before realising his creative interests lay firmly behind the camera. That realisation led him to TAFE NSW, where he completed his Certificate III in Screen and Media (CUA31020), Certificate IV in Screen and Media (CUA41220) and Diploma of Screen and Media (CUA51020), developing a strong interest in broadcast production. Daniel says, "The hands‑on learning environment and quality of teaching at TAFE NSW made a real difference." 😃 While studying, Daniel was recommended for a camera operator role with BarTV Sports, securing paid industry work. He quickly progressed, later joining Gravity Media, balancing part‑time study with part‑time work thanks to the flexibility offered by TAFE NSW. Daniel’s goal is to move into film and scripted television, with experience already spanning broadcast, commercials, TV shows and feature films. Meet Nirmal: helping students like Chris build IT & cyber security careers 🖥️🔐 Nirmal, an experienced TAFE NSW educator, has been inspiring future IT professionals since 2014. With a background at global tech leaders like Dell and Amazon Web Services, he brings real-world expertise straight into the classroom. His motivation is simple: “My pure passion is to share knowledge.” 🧠⌨️ As the IT industry continues to evolve rapidly, Nirmal and the team have developed the new Diploma of Information Technology (Cyber Security & Cloud Architecture) (ICT50220). With a combination of cloud based labs, virtual environments, simulated cyber attack scenarios, and learning supported by resources from Cisco Networking Academy, Offensive Security, and AWS Academy, the course provides a hands on learning environment where students build practical skills and confidence for the real world. ☁️🚀 Launching in July, the course enables students to specialise in areas they’re passionate about. One of those students is Chris, who is preparing to take the next step after completing his certificate studies. Originally trained in music journalism, Lochie studied the Diploma of Music (Creative and Composition) (CUA50820), and gained the practical skills to transform his ideas into something extraordinary. IPROWD 2026 Graduation | Honouring Legacy, Building Futures 👮🏽 Congratulations to Josh and his fellow graduates from the 2026 IPROWD program, marking a milestone in both their journeys and 15 years of impact at Eora. IPROWD supports Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples with the skills, confidence and pathways to pursue careers in the NSW Police Force or the Australian Federal Police. 🚓💫 Josh received the RACAPTIS Award (Redfern Aboriginal Community and Police Together in Sport), nominated by NSW Police, recognising respect, leadership, community connection, teamwork and positive engagement. He was also co-awarded the Gibbs Award for outstanding dedication, academic excellence, and leadership as a top IPROWD student. For Josh, the experience was deeply rewarding. The program strengthened his cultural identity and offered real-world insight: "We went out to north-west NSW and saw community policing firsthand. There was a sergeant there who had completed IPROWD. She was an incredible role model." She works with writers, directors and actors to bring real, life saving moments to screen. 💙 After leaving school at 16, TAFE NSW offered a practical pathway into nursing, helping build her skills and confidence, leading to a career she never imagined. One story among a million. This is Sadaf’s. ✨ In Afghanistan, Sadaf was studying Diplomacy and Arabic Literature until 2021, when women were banned from attending university. “It was like building a city for years and then suddenly losing it all,” she said. “I lost my right to study.” Forced to flee with her family, Sadaf arrived in the Hunter region of NSW in 2024 determined to rebuild her future. Through the Adult Migrant English Program (AMEP), she regained her confidence and developed her English skills, taking the first step toward her dreams. She enrolled in the Certificate IV in Tertiary Preparation (11225NAT), balancing study, part-time work and life in a new country. 🎓 Her dedication paid off. Sadaf graduated in the top 10 students across NSW: “When I got my results, it felt like all the challenges paid off at once. I’m proud I didn’t give up.” ✨ Today, Sadaf is enrolled in the Open Foundation program at the University of Newcastle (a pathway program), with the ultimate goal of studying Pharmacy. She also recently received the Student of the Year Award in the Equity, Foundation Skills and Aboriginal Culture and Languages category at the 2026 TAFE NSW Student Excellence Awards. 💪 This Refugee Week, we celebrate the strength, resilience and potential behind every story. Craig has a passion for trades that started at 16 🔨👷‍♂️ Craig Bennett’s journey with TAFE NSW began at just 16, completing a pre-apprenticeship in bricklaying. That experience sparked something that stayed with him for decades - a passion to teach. 🎓 "The most rewarding aspect of teaching is supporting apprentices throughout their journey and witnessing their progression into confident, self-employed professionals who then employ and mentor the next generation of apprentices to study at TAFE NSW. This cycle of skill development and industry contribution is truly fulfilling." After 20 years running his own successful business, Craig followed that calling and joined TAFE NSW - Newcastle as a Flooring teacher.
