Aircraft Launch and Recovery Officers in the military manage how jets and helicopters safely take off from and land on aircraft carriers at sea. They plan and oversee the powerful catapult systems, arresting wires, hydraulic equipment, and visual landing aids, and they make sure everything is inspected, maintained, and ready for high-speed operations. They also help design and test new launch and recovery systems, review engineering plans for new aircraft, write technical instructions, and train flight deck crews to follow precise safety procedures in a very fast-paced environment.
